They are probably the two most discreet boys we had the chance to meet. They are quiet, not showing off at all. They have often accompanied other artists way more effusive, while they just remained in retreat; however, you couldn’t keep anyone else in mind but them, from the moment the first got to his piano, or the other started singing.
They cautiously took their bearings, proceeding in small subtle steps with finely worked pieces in which the tiniest sound seemed to have grown slowly enough to be able to set its authenticity.
They are probably the two most prolific boys we had the chance to meet. Free from any hype around release, from any excessive goal than just the will to create music. Just this year, they released two albums, a soundtrack, two Eps and they’ll be back to work next year. The first one is called Nils Frahm, the other Peter Broderick. In this late year, coming as a divine surprise, they formed a band and recorded an album. The band is called Oliveray and they worked Wonders (the title of the album) Here is a link to listen to it.
Oliveray – Wonders (Exclusive Album Stream on Clash Music) by erasedtapes
Oliveray has its origin in a cover. Their friends from Efterklang asked Nils and Peter to do a cover of ‘Harmonics’. They did it ‘the easiest way they could’. Then, as they were asked to record some music pieces to be part of a japanese tour, they formed Oliveray and recorded the eight tracks of Wonders. Staggering fact: it took them a couple of days. Try to listen to it with headphones: it seems this music has been carved out of cotton.
Wonders shall be released on December the 9th. You are truly advised to lend an ear to it. Pre-sales are available here, on the Erased Tapes label website.
And just so you know, we are not going to leave you alone with these guys: the Soirée de Poche with Nils Frahm will soon be online, and we’re expecting Peter Broderick’s new album for the beginning of next year…
